Who I ask! will get to decide what is right or wrong. This is the problem! I believe what I believe and will not allow others to tell me otherwise without an explanation as to why? If I cannot read a article because someone decided it is misinformation. Then we are in for a world of just do as I say mentality

At this point this is a global problem. It doesn't matter where you're from anymore. If you post anything on social media that is considered remotely controversial, even if you live on Sentinel Island so to speak, it will get "fact checked", I.e. censored.
It is global problem. Thanks.
The only way to stop it globally is that we need an example. Of catastrophic implosion.
Give us the show, 'murica. Entertain us.

Which was known to be a thing over a century ago. People don't want the news; they want their own opinions reinforced. They'll latch on to anything that sounds like it makes sense, and it's almost impossible to change peoples opinions once they have their minds made up.

I believe that this is called "confirmation bias".

I say everybody who is against freedom of information is as evil as the guy who rapes little kids and should be taken to the gallows... it is each individuals right to research and not believe the stats, specifically a tech company writing about human rights. Remove freedom haters from the USA, UK and EU, send them all to Russia, China and let them live the lives they love.

I quote this post to highlight the irony the OP apparently wasn't aware of.

Americans are stupid and I say that as a stupid American
Public schools no longer teach students how to think. Instead, they have become indoctrination factories teaching what to think. It's no wonder so many "young people" in America want to go into government or a "non-profit" as a career. They have been taught to believe that organizations are the solution to all problems, instead of hard work and self-reliance, the foundations of the industrialization of the nation.
And I say this as an American educator who spent a decade teaching overseas, where students are still taught how to think, not what to think.

Democracy has shown us that the majority of people are stupid.
Which is why the founders rejected democracy for representative republic. Once the uninformed masses dependent on government/taxpayer largesse are permitted to vote, those programs only increase, and the economy and society enter a death spiral.

There's not a single point in time in recent history at which the US hasn't *already* suppressed and controlled information, either directly or done just by an ideological bias supported by huge media conglomerates (hint: having just 3 separate companies control *all* media was basically done to do this).

It just doesn't gets talked about it or brought up because it's so thoroughly done nobody even thinks to consider things like Socialism or Anarchism because of this decades long propaganda effort.

The only issue is that the same mechanism put in place to create this effort are not over-correcting and going into damaging fringes of climate denialism, anti vaccination sentiment, etc. But make no mistake: the DNC actually *wants* to continue to have propaganda that's pro-neoliberalism and anti-socialist. This arguments about greater control is just a narrow disagreement with the political enemies on the GOP that they consider have taken things a step too far.

The only fundamental difference here is that the DNC is ok with continuing the crushing advances of neoliberalism while the GOP wants to immediately escalate to full-blown, open Fascism.
You were fine right up to the very end where you took a hard nose dive into "muh right wing facists".

The only people calling right wingers facists are the ones that wish to censor anyone who disagrees with them, label them as "dirty" and "inhuman", and openly allow only one side to air their greivances, while going after anyone who makes fun of them or refuses to go along with their ploys. These poeple think not believing in 172 genders is "literal murder" and those who dont think black peopel are too stupid to be held to the same standards as others are "racist nazi scum" and will happily go after the jobs, financial institutions, and family of anyone who disagree with them.

Sounds kinda facist to me........

Technically that republic died in 1946 (introduction of universal suffrage).

9/11 was not a terrorist attack!

It was a defensive response to terrorist attacks by criminals in the U.S.

Fact Checks Welcomed!
(Evidence Required)
You didn't provide any evidence. You don't get to be lazy and demand everyone else do your work for you. If you've got a controversial opinion you should be able to defend that opinion with the data you used form it. If the data is difficult for you to present perhaps your opinion is wrong.

Yeah, no.

See, here's what people like you don't understand: There's a difference between "the government can not punish you for making speech" and "the government can not punish you for the RESULTS of said speech".

You are free to claim Trump won the election (he didn't) and should be put into power (he won't) without fear of being arrested by the government. However, once you do that same speech in front a crowd who then attempts to overthrow the government, you are now liable for inciting insurrection.

Well said and spot on. Forget trying to get anyone in the party whose platform is acceptance, compassion, and tolerance to for one second extend those courtesies to anyone who disagrees with their mantra. It is hysterical to think there are people out there that REALLY think that the right tries to control thought and narrative. That job is already taken by the media machine and is destroying America. On topic - the thought of further censorship under the guise of "protection" only encourages and empowers single entity players that assume the responsibility of what we should and should not believe without allowing society to think for themselves. I'd say let anyone publish what they want and let people start using what little grey matter left out there to figure out whats true or not for themselves. Then again America has made the Kardasians who they are today so.....
