There are others. CoD comes to mind with the new release. 200 players in a session. That's pretty good. I suppose it depends on how you define massive, multiplayer. For me that means large teams, 25-30 people per team.Eve is a PVP MMO, about the only one that has survived but it is losing a lot of players. WOW is not a PVP MMO, like the other MMOs I mentioned all have some PVP but that is not their focus.
I think the problem with these types of games is less about people's interest and more about quality of the game. Many of these games that have come and gone had scaling problems, bugs or exploits that drove people away. I think people want quality, PVP games but it doesn't seem like too many companies want to focus on that type of play. Especially when it's a "free-to-play" model.
