Earlier this year we took an in-depth look at Motorola’s Moto G4 Plus, one of three new devices in Motorola’s expanded Moto G lineup. At $250, the Moto G4 Plus was the most expensive of the trio. Given its feature set and asking price, Tim suggested that interested parties save $50 and instead spring for the middle child, the Moto G4.
The most economical of the three handsets, the Moto G4 Play, wasn’t available at the time of our review but that’ll be changing in the near future as Motorola is finally ready to bring the phone to the US.
The Moto G4 Play features a 5-inch display operating at a resolution of 1,280 x 720 (294 PPI) that’s driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 quad-core SoC and a modest 2GB of RAM. The device also packs in 16GB of local flash storage (expandable via microSD card slot), an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, a 5-megapixel shooter on the front and a 2,800mAh battery, all running Android 6.0.1.
Perhaps the most appealing aspect of the Moto G4 Play is its price. The handset is available to pre-order from a number of retailers including Best Buy and B&H for just $149.99 although Prime members that purchase it through Amazon and agree to let the e-commerce giant run ads and pre-load it with select apps can snag it for just $99.99.
The Moto G4 Play will be released on September 15.
