MP370 waits hours before printing

I have just reinstalled my MP370 printer/scanner after a major upgrade (replace mobo, graphics and CPU).

The printer now seems to take 3-4 hours to print a short one page letter. The printer status monitor states "Collecting printer status" while this is occurring.

The scanner seems to work perfectly.

Any ideas: I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers with no success.
