Hi there,

I was very foolish and accepted some photos through messenger and I am told that it was a virus. Any advice as to how to get rid of something like this?

Thanks

Who told you about the virus ? :unch:

If all you accepted were jpgs or gifs it is very unlikely they have a virus.

Provided your Windows has been updated since 2004 there would

be no problem anyway.

If you want to be safe go HERE and follow all the steps.

thanks

I was told by the person who gave it to me. She said she didn't send it, but here messenger ID was automatically sending a folder of photos supposedly from here vacation. Have you heard of this?

Yes,it`s not unusual for spammers or spyware writers to hijack other people`s

computers or IDs.The question is,what is in the folders and did you click on

anything ? As long as you didn`t click on anything executable (.exe or .bat .pif or a few others),

you can just delete the folder entirely.Go to that link above if you think you have clicked

on anything.

I did try to open it, but my computer wouldn't let it open, saying that it was harmful. Does that mean I'm in the clear.

I appreciate your help!

It looks like you were saved by your computer ;)

It would still be a good idea to go the link I gave you.

At least do the scans and download all the programs

it suggests.
