My cpu help plz

i am dum at least thats what i think bcuz i am making a pc but i just noticed something i have a 3.0ghz prescot cpu i just checked my mother board it says its a HT1683 Northbridge and HT1563 Southbridge Chipset so does that mean i cant use my cpu that would realy suck

You left out the ONE piece of information that we need!
What is the make and exact model of that motherboard?

A Prescott normally should fit on a Socket 478 board, so I guess you're OK.
