my internet is sending but not receiving packets

I have verizon DSL, and a westell wirespeed modem

the thing is, that my computer sends out packets, but receives them VERY slowly. Sites time out before they connect

the thing is, that if I connect from my router, my internet works, but it won't work through the modem. (it is much faster if I go through the modem.)

anybody know what I should do?

change the ethernet cable

heres what you do...
if u have windows xp go to run---type in cmd
type ipconfig/release
unppplug the westell modem from the power source
shutdown the pc that has the problem, then replug the westell modem power
turn on the pc until the "ready" light stops blinking

ok try this

1.first change the ethernet cable and then ping to check if you can get the packets correctly

2.disable all firewalls/av software

3.check the firewall in the westell modem make sure its not turned on

4. in the run option type this cmd open the command promt and type this
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt then try ping
