My kid put a magnet

My kid put a magnet next to my monitor screen and it made pretty colors. Now the colors won't go away. Is it ruined forever?

There should be a degaussing option in the settings menu(those buttons on the front)

Thanks. I can get the menu on the screen now, but how do I click on one of the options?

The exact procedure varies from brand to brand.You can get the manual online for most types.Usually it`s just a matter of pressing menu,navigating with +and- then pressing menu to enter,or something like that

If the degauss doesn't work, there is another way to fix this problem. You need a magnet that uses the opposite magnetic field, and you have to put it in front of you screen, and slowly move it in circles in a counter-clock wise motion, father and father away from the screen. After my grandpa did this to his tv, this was how we fixed it!
