hey guys, im having this problem with windows minimizing all the time. i first noticed it while i was playing Day of Defeat. every 2 min. or so windows would minimize to the desktop. even right now while im typing this message windows is not focused on my internet browser and i have to move the mouse on it to continue typing. Heres what i tried so far... i checked out my keyboard (its wireless) i unplugged it and i was still having the same problem. its pretty annoying, if anyone has any suggestions please help me out. (btw, in case you were wondering im not just hitting the alt+tab key all the time by accident, just did a virus check and it came up empty, checked all my spyware and got rid of it i don't know what else it could be) sorry i don't know who else to go to

i have this same problem. I have to reselect the window in which i typ this every 2 minutes to be able to continue typing. I use the following antivirus and spyware programs:

Hijackthis
CWSchredder
Ad-aware
Spybot Search and destroy
Xoftspy
Trend Micro PC-chilling
Microsoft antispyware beta1

Microsoft antispyware beta1 comes up with a possible browser hijack in the registery everytime i run it. I remove it, but in the next run, its still there.

anyone any idea?

edit: forgot to mention: when i boot the PC and i open my first internet page, an advertisement of Jamba shows up imediately, about 5 minutes later an enormous blank screen follows (i actualy have to move that screen to get to the X button to close it)

Hello and welcome to Techspot Chelives1928 and tha_reaper

Maybe it`d be a good idea if you both went HERE and followed the instructions carefully. Print them out if you can.

Once you have done that, go HERE for instructions on how to post your Hijackthis logs.

Regards Howard

thank you for your fast reply Howard and for the welcome. I followed all the instructions. Spybot, and Adaware didnt came up with anything. MS antispyware came up with his usual Browser hijack again. I ran Hijackthis and fixed a couple of things. So far i havent seen any minimalizing windows or popups but i've had that more. once you think you got rid of all the crap, next time you reboot. the fun starts all over again ;)

anyway. so far so good, and i hope it will stay this way. When it starts again i'll post my Hijackthis log.

regards, Richard

and its back

it started again. i'll make a new log in safe mode an post it as soon as possible.

ps: it seems that the possible browser hijack that MS antispyware found everytime is permanently gone.

edit: added the log to the attachment

Boot in Safe Mode.
Switch System restore OFF.
Press Ctrl/Alt/Del simultaneously, select Taskmanager/Processes, select the process (if there), click "End Process" for:

srod.exe

Next, run a HJT scan and place a tick-mark in the little square before (if still there):
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\DOCUME~1\Demmers\LOCALS~1\Temp\se.dll/spage.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = www.google.com
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.home.nl/
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\DOCUME~1\Demmers\LOCALS~1\Temp\se.dll/spage.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = www.google.com
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.home.nl/
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName = Koppelingen
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [srod] C:\WINDOWS\System32\srod.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Digital Image Monitor.lnk = ?
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.neededware.com
O16 - DPF: {6414512B-B978-451D-A0D8-FCFDF33E833C} (WUWebControl Class) - http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.c...ls/en/x86/client/wuweb_site.cab?1116926338375

Now click on the Fix Checked button in HJT.
When done, delete the highlighted bold file.
Delete all files and directories from: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Temp
Repeat this for ALL [usernames].
Boot normal. When all OK, switch System Restore back on.

When next you have the time, install SP2.

Sp2

i have installed SP2 2 days ago. when i booted my computer after that all my icons on my desktop including the taskbar disappeared and i coudn't do anything anymore. I had to use Winternals 2005 to restore my system using a windows restore point to his state before i installed SP2, so installing SP2 will not be an option. I did a panda online virusscan (http://www.pandasoftware.com/home/default.asp) and he came up with the following items:

Incident Status Location

Adware:Adware/Neededware No disinfected C:\WINDOWS\System32\srodndw30103lib.dll
Adware:Adware/Neededware No disinfected C:\WINDOWS\System32\srod.exe
Adware:Adware/SaveNow No disinfected
Windows Registery
Adware:Adware/Neededware No disinfected C:\WINDOWS\system32\srod.exe
Adware:Adware/Neededware No disinfected C:\WINDOWS\system32\srodndw30103lib.dll

i just installed Panda Titanium 2005 and see if that helps a bit too ;)

ill keep you up to date in this post (i'll edit)

edit 1: typo

edit 2: After running panda, he indeed removed the neededware crap that the online scan prevealed and so far i have no problems. So my advise to the tread starter: go to http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm and do the online scan. if it show up with the neededware adware then i think we know what our problem was. (it might come back for me, so no 100% guarantees)
