My sound device disappeared suddenly after rebooted, please help thank you!

I have a hewlett-packard pavilion, CPU is AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm), window Me. Recently my little brother was playing a mini flash game and it got frozen, and after I reboot the window the sound is gone, at the device manager the sound device is disappeared; it didn't open anything when i clicked on the volumn control, and it doesnt let me select any options of sound of any programs like soundrecorder or mic; n the win media player said there is no sound device installed or the device might be used by another program when i tried to play a song. Please help me out, Thanks so much!

Reinstall the drivers for it.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

As isatippy says you will probably need to reinstall your sound drivers.

If you have onboard sound then go to your mobo manufactures website and download them from there. Alternatively if you have the mobo cd you will find them on there.

If you have a seperate soundcard then the drivers will be on the cd that came with the card, or you can go to the soundcard manufacturers website and get them from there.

I finally solved the problem by go to the manufac site n downloaded the new bio , and thanks for all your suggestions
