My USB Won't let me put anything on it even though its empty

Is it a new usb drive? Or have you deleted everything off it, but not emptied the recycled bin?
 
Do a format
1)My computer
2)Right click the drive.
3)select format.

or look for hidden files.
1)Open any folder
2)Go to tools
3)Folder Options
4)Go to view tab
5)Set it on show all hidden files and folders.
 
ALL usb thumb drives come formatted FAT32 for a purpose:
to be usable on ALL SYSTEMS
 
OK - so FAT structure is not important. But he cannot access the contents so he might as well format it to suit his OS. Thats a bugger if the next time he needs to read it from and old Win98 system.....

A USB can be (re)formated for universal access via:
format ?: /fs:fat32​
or if you intend only to use it on your XP system
format ?: /fs:ntfs​

DO NOT USE THE /q flag!
