Hi all,

Client has a VAIO VGN-S58GP laptop running WINXP SP2. When the PC enters Stand-By or Hinbernation mode, upon wake-up he receives a BSOD error reffering to ndis.sys instantly.
Research points to SP2 fixing the problem, but the OS is up-to-date with the latest hotfixes and drivers have now all been updated but to no avail.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers :grinthumb

Just to update further:

I also set the NIC to 100/Full Duplex, rather than Auto-Detect. This caused the BSOD errors not to appear when coming out of stand-by, but instead now the screen is totally black, with no HDD activity (fan spins though!).

Wierd? I think so!

Should anyone care, I solved the problem by doing the following:

- Creating a copy of the Hardware profile (just in case)
- Disabling all NIC in device manager
- Re-booted, selecting the hardware profile with the disabled NIC
- 1 by 1 enabled NICs and re-booted each time

Problem was found to be with the onboard W-NIC (hardware problem).

Cheers :grinthumb
