what do I have 256mb or 512mb

In CPU-Z select the memory tab. How many megs does it show you have?

You have 512mb of memory but 264mb of the ram has been designated as video memory in the bios.

In my opinion you have 256MB of memory,with 8MB used for video.

CPU-Z gets it wrong sometimes.

You should be able to find out what memory your PC has by googling the model.That`s assuming it wasn`t bought used.

I installed the mobo, RAM and HD
The RAM in question is a generic I bought new and Is a replacement for a faulty one. Only thing is, there is no sticker/label on it.If this is 256 then they sent the wrong one because I paid for 512
I just stuck in a 256 I had aand CPU-Z now shows 768
BIOS shows base 640
extended 515072
total 516096

Download BELARC it could have the casting vote.
