Need Help in connectinf two wireless routers

I have connected an AT&T supplied modem router to a netgear router uplink using. My connection to the netgear router does not providfe me access to the internet. However, wehn I reconncet to the modem router connected to the DSL line wirelessly, everything works fine. Any Advise on what could be thereason or how to troubleshoot the issue? Thanks.

Try connecting the modem to the WAN port instead of the uplink port
