need help installing graphics card.

hello to whoever is gonna try to help me. first i know very little about computers so when u explain things try not to explain easy as possible. well i got a ati radeon x700 pro from my friend and was trying to install it in my computer. its an emachines and i know they are cheap. i followed the instructions the best i could but when i started my computer just got blank screen. if any1 could explain what i might need to do i would appreciate it a lot. i have emachines t5048 intel pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz 1.87 gb of ram. i dont know if u need to know any of that **** but i put it anyways.

Did you uninstall the old graphics driver from the Add and Remove Programs before installing the new card? If so, please list the steps you took to remove the old card and install the new card. Include what you did with the graphics drivers (if anything). That would help to spot any error you might have made.
