Need help; picking an external HD with NAS

I'm looking to purchase an external HD with Network-attached storage (NAS) capabilities, but also looking to be able to secure and monitor the folders by full to read only access.

What manufactures and models do any of you suggest I look into as a good purchase?

I've been leaning toward a Maxtor XXX GB Shared Storage External Hard Drive NAS ( H01P200 ) or AcomData E5 320GB Hard Drive - FireWire 400, 7200 RPM, 8 MB - External Hard Drive.
