need help with koos.exe

  1. Hello,
    I'm new to this forum and at the beginner level with computing. I'm getting a red warning box from Noton saying "koos.exe is trying to connect to the Internet." I use my computer for online banking so I'm very worried. Scanning with Norton (I've kept up with the Symantec updates and Windows updates) doesn't reveal any problems. I can't find any files containing "koos.exe" when I search my system. I'm afraid to reconnect to the internet so I'm sending this message from my work computer. What should I do?

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

    Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

    If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

    Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

    Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

    Also, let me know the results of the Panda Antirootkit scan.
