Network address?????????

i have been told i need a network address for my laptop to work on my network. what is this and how do i find out what it should be??????

Your question doesn't provide much detail about about your configuration. For openers:
- What type of network do you have set up?
- Are you using a router?
- Do you have more than two computers on the net?
- How are you trying to connect the laptop to the net? Wireless card, ethernet cable, USB or what?
