Network cable unplugged, firewalled

I have a three computer network hooked up to a Linksys router which also carries my Vonage phone line. I recently disconnected one of the three computers, all Macs, and replaced it with a PC running Windows XP Home. No matter what I have tried I cannot get the PC to get on the Internet or receive email. I have used the network setup in Windows without success. I have tried the computer hooked directly up to the Motorola cable modem without results. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

try shut off machine
shut off (unplug motorola)
plug modem back in then machine reboot see if the modem reset itself
I have had a 5100 surfboard not reset
if that does not work hold dwn reset for bout 40 secs then press again
the network card should be set for dynamic
dhcp server in modem will send ip to nic
how to see if the modem is holding wrong ip
type 192.168.100.1 if it come s up with modem status it is not releasing
you can try to release here ,but I don't know what that will do for your macs that are already setup


I have had lots of problems with surfboard
so I got a linksys, so far so good :chef:
