ok here's a question.

I have a llinksys router with two computers connected to it. I want to pull files off one computer onto another using a network. - how do i do it?

Or should I just get a crossover- if that's the case, how do I do it?

what os are you using
xp has a wizard setup tool
static config the nic cards
do a google or go to linksys site for how to's
right click on the files or folder you want to share enable sharing
both pc's must be on same workgroup
find system folder network ID

I know you made your last post more than 2 weeks ago, but to answer your question...
I believe what he meant by "static config" is manually configuring the ip address on both computers. However...this shouldn't be necessary because most home routers will configure your computer's ip address automatically (DHCP).
You can just use standard cables(straight-through) to connect both computers to the router. Then the XP Network Wizard should be able to do the rest without any manual configuration. If you still have problems, make another post with specifics included.
