New Laptop hard drive

I have an old Toshiba laptop in need of a new hard disc, the current one is only 4GB and I want to replace it with a 20GB. I am sure the BIOS will not recognise it and the Toshiba website does not seem to have an updated BIOS. I am sure I have heard of some utility that allows you to fit a large drive into an old machine.
Has anyone any info on this?

It is called disk overlay software. HD makers supply them.

If yu buy an OEM drive that doesnt come with any software simply go to the manufacturer's site and download it.
