New Processor

Hello,
Im looking for a new processor for my PC, I currenty have an Intel Pentium 3 processor 550MHZ and its too slow. The motherboard model is an I440BX-ITE8671. Does anyone no what Processors would be compatible with my motherboard and what would be the best one I could get. Im new enough to this sort of stuff so sorry if I ain't makin sense. I can get more info about PC if needed.

What make is the board? Look for the manual on the maker's site.

At best you could probably upgrade to a 1GHz Pentium 3 (based on a Coppermine core). Faster Pentium 3s & Celerons that used that form factor are probably based on the Tualatin core & not compatible with your motherboard.

It might be easier & actualy cheaper to start from scratch with a new system.

Im 90% sure the manufacturer is Intel, I might be wrong. Ive used a few applications to try and find out who the manufacturer is but none of them have found out.
