No wireless networks were found within range

New NEC iSelect M5210 laptop from Ebuyer. XP-Home built-in Atheros AR5005G wireless, connecting to Netgear DG834G Wireless ADSL router. When first set it up, laptop could not find my wireless router. Connected to router via Ethernert completed setup then noticed Wireless network had been found. After 3 weeks of no trouble, switched on today & L/T cannot find Wireless Network. Router is OK as my other wireless attached PC works fine. The built in wireless connection says it is OK, have disable/enabled, basically when I try & refresh netwoirk list it finds nothing. Any ideas?? Could it be a failed network connector in the PC (even though XP says the device has no problems) AVG A/V, standard XP Home Firewall, latest updates. Tried Restore back several days, still will not find Wireless Neyworks. Was working fine!

Yes it could be a failed network adapter.

XP is very very poor at detecting when a network adapter has gone bad, infact I've had at least 3 network cards die on me over the years, and EVERY time XP said it was fine.
