 I just buit a new computer on a biostar m7ncg400 base, and I'm already
having problems. After a problem with the video signal to my monitor,
I thought the worst was behind me. But, now I can't get the onboard
audio to do anything. I keep getting messages about" hardware not responding." I installed the audio driver(realtek) and it still won't do
****. Any Ideas?

Check your Device Manager to see if the driver has installed properly. Any yellow question marks show up?

Did you install the motherboard drivers when you put the system together after loading windows?

yeah man,
I loaded all the drivers for the mainboard. I figured they couldn't send
me the wrong drivers with the board if it was onboard audio, but
when I was troubleshooting, it said that the driver may not have
a microsoft digital signature. Any reccomendations on a replacement
driver for an ac'97 v. 5.04?

Go to Biostar's website and see if they have an older version of the driver in their support section. One that is WHQL certified.

I would also check in the bios to make sure that the onboard audio os enabled.

last but not least it could be a defective mobo.
