Opinion on Microsoft Windows Defender

I was just curious to find out if this antispyware was worth the free download.
Any feedback of this would be greatly appreciated.

I cant say my opinion on that program, its made by MS!
But have you tryed Adaware or Spybot? I can tell you these are excellent programs that have free versions.

i do have adware. but i was just asking out of curiosity if this was up to par with the other antispyware software out there.

I wasn't very happy with Defender.There seemed to be a problem on my computer. It kept insisting on downloading and installing the same update. AVG have a new anti spyware program to partner their anti virus software. Both AVG downloads are freeware and very good.

I think Defender is a decent program. I'm currently running that along with Spybot - Search & Destroy, and Ad-Aware SE personal.

I had it on my computer for over 6 months and it never found anything. Spybot S&D and Adaware always found a few things. So I ended up uninstalling it in Add/Remove Programs. But for some reason they won't let you remove the Signature updates. Weird.
