Outlook error stating "Registry error"

Hi, Can anyone help me??
I have had an issue with my laptop lately and a result of the problems seemed to make Office unuseable. This seems to have semi resolved itself. However, I am still unable to use outlook.
I can open the application but when I go to 'Tools' 'E-mail account' I get eh following error message.. "The operation failed due to a registry or installation problem. Restart Outlook. If the problem persists, please reinstall"

I am unable to reinstall as the apps was pre-installed on my laptop when I bought it.
I would be greatful of any assistance you could give me.

hi mez. would i be right in say that you do not have the os disc ?

Tom, thanks for your response. You are correct, I do not have any software to load. Not too sure why this is? I brought the laptop brand new with all applications and OS already loaded. I can't see that any provisions were made by Sony for faults such as mine.
