Hi,
I desperately need some help, My server running on 2000 , with JBoss and terminal service running periodically reboots,

I really have no clue as the HP hardware vendor says the hardware is ok.

thanks in advance for help

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.
The bugcheck was: 0x00000050 (0xa24af3b4, 0x00000000, 0xa0231109, 0x00000001).
Microsoft Windows 2000 [v15.2195]. A dump was saved in: C:\WINNT\MEMORY.DMP.

The previous system shutdown at 10:47:41 AM on 7/20/2005 was unexpected.

Inform are already attached in another thread but I do not know how to attach again.
Thanks in advanced for your help

Is this box running latest service pack/updates from microsoft.

The NTVDM for a 16-bit program may max out the PagedPool usage.. M$ says to service pack/update your box.

pstat and minidump diag

enclosed please find the files of pstat and memory dump

I believe I got the all latest patches of M$ already. I have two server with very similar configuration, both of them reboots even after reinstall the whole machine.
BTW, what is NTVDM ? and how might I check ?

NTVDM the term stands for NT Virtual DOS Machine also referred as WOW.exe or Windows on Windows...
is a Win16 subsystem that runs under Windows NT, which allows 16-bit applications to run as if they were being executed on a DOS machine, with that machine's multitasking and segmented memory model.

Because the system is multitasked 16-bit DOS and Windows applications cannot crash NT. However, 16-bit apps within a Win16 subsystem run the exact same way as they do on a DOS/Win 3.x machine; therefore, 16-bit apps within the subsystem can crash one another, or the subsystem. To prevent this, you can launch multiple WOW subsystems as long as your program does not communicate using shared memory.

Windows NT will not allow NTVDM to execute instructions that try to directly manipulate hardware or memory locations. As a result, some DOS and Windows 3.x applications (such as games) may not run under Windows NT."

Any legacy programs that ran on older systems in DOS would probably use NTDVM or WOW to run.

The reason i brought that up is i did a support.microsoft.com search for 0x00000050 and it returned as one of the articles one about the NTVDM and it says to service pack your system to fix the 0x00000050 error. I think the latest service pack for 2k is sp4. to check your server just hold the Windows key and tap the pause/break it will bring up system properties right on that screen it should say system xxxxxxx Service pack x ....

Your Norton AV is at Jan 2004 which is 18 months behind. De-install or upgrade Nortan AV.

Can you attach the output of windbg sub command !process and lm tn here.

The failing process is excel and what version of excel are you using? Do you have any idea what are the following modules?

a01e6000 a0203000 c5e24600 c5e24600.dll unavailable (FFFFFFFE)
a0203000 a022d000 C5E24605 C5E24605.DLL unavailable (FFFFFFFE)
a022d000 a023c000 C5E2460A C5E2460A.DLL unavailable (FFFFFFFE)

a0242000 a0248000 C5E246CK C5E246CK.DLL unavailable (FFFFFFFE)

Do you have another memory.dmp? If yes, attach the output of windbg of the following subcommands here

!analyze -v
!process
!thread

I do not know about those dll. I am using ms0ffice 2003 and has just updated to sp3 for excel, still the same problem.
I am thinking if this is due to the fact that I use webstart for java application.
All memory dump has been overwritten. I will try to capture another one ( if this unfortunately happen again). thanks for your help

Can you zip 4 to 5 minidumps and attach the zip files here. You can find the minidumps at the folder \winnt\minidump.

I don't know how do the HP CE check the memory. As I know some faulty RAM can pass memtest. Swap the RAM with another PC which does not have BSOD is the best method to verify whether it is faulty RAM or not.

Enclosed please find the minidumps, thanks
BTW, both HP servers have similar problem, I think swapping memory might not help, thanks for your advice
FYI, I have just disabled browser service at the moment .

Two minidump crashed at c5e24600.dll. The time stamp of this module is at Jun 26 2000 which is almost 5 years ago. I searched google and no hit of this module. Most likely they are the culprits.

Thanks for your analysis, I think those dll belongs to a canon printer. I am trying to uninstall it and see if that works. My question is that I have reinstall the system 2 weeks ago, would the date be creation date of the dll ?

Getting random BSOD's...please HELP!

Dear cpc2004,

I've been getting daily BSOD's that have made my machine totally unstable. I can't tolerate this anymore... Here attached are my minidumps... as I was typing this message originally I GOT A BSOD, so the 4th minidump just happened minutes ago! :(

If you have time, I would greatly appreciate if you could checkout my dumps... I'm desperate :(

I should mention that my RAM and CPU are OC'd a little bit, but all my temps are normal...

Thanks,

Mark.

Hi Silvermark,
All of your minidumps crashrd at Norton AV. De-install or upgrade Norton AV. You can contact Symantec why their product crash your windows.

I have installed NAV 2005 (newer version, I had 2004), and it crashed once. The bugcheck was the same as other crashes, so I looked on Google and apparently there are issues with NAV and Windows Driver Verifier (verifier.exe). So I turned off Windows Verifier and rebooted. No crash so far (it has been about 24 hs.). It's looking good... :)
