We have recently received a word from our reliable source that AMD is going to launch one more processor based on the old 0.18micron Palomino core before the new 0.13micron Thoroughbred based CPUs come out. Today this info got confirmed.

One of our readers (special thanks to Shaun L) sent us a picture of Athlon XP 2200+ based on the Palomino core.

This way, we are absolutely sure that very soon AMD will really announce a new Athlon XP (Palomino) with 2200+ rating. New Athlon XP will work at 1.8GHz core clock frequency and will support the same Vcore as the previous Palomino based CPUs: 1.75V.

Gosh.. I wonder how hot this CPU will be... Gasp...

Yeah, AMD is pushing it with this one..It is like the 1.4 T-Bird. It shouldnt have been released due to heat issues in my opinion. Well, with the Thoroughbred getting more and more press this 2200+ cpu probably wont see that great. What it will do though is lower the price of the rest of the XP family and make the 1800+ a good buy for someone looking for a deal.

Cheaper would be good ;) Hopefully when the Thoroughbreds come out, the XPs will have another round of price reductions.
