Partition Magic resize data almost lost?

I have resized a partition using partition magic 7 on win XP (home).
The partition is active. I have a backup folder that contains all of my data from the drive but is not accessible. There is a System Volume Information folder that has appeared. Windows reports the drive has as much data on the drive as before the resize.
Scandisk does not help.
Defrag shows the files and will do its job but still there is no access to the files.

It 's not to clear what you're saying, but it sounds like you've simple 'hidden' your backup folder.

What do you mean by "accessible"? Do you no longer see the folder? Perhaps you double click ont he folder and get "access denied"?

I try to open the folder and get "not accessible" Access is denied.

When defrag was working I did see the names of the files inside the directory.
