PC keeps crashing when trying to install AC'97 sound drivers help please

Hi, I have an emachine 4260 and have had to do a fresh install of XP, however the sound is not working and whenever i try to install the drivers from the Realtek site the PC resets itself.

Can anyone help??

The motherboard is an Intel D845GVSR if that is any help.

I've been on that site and tried to install the drivers but it crashes half way through. No luck!

If the E-machine download:

doesn't work, then try the AC97 at the Realtek site.

edit: note that they have Soundmax drivers there as well - sometimes that is the one you want.

tried both mate its an installation problem, keeps crashing when installing the drivers.
