pc really really slow

hi there

last night i tried installing photoshop cs2 on my laptop but the installatıon could not be completed. it took about 1 hour after i had to turn ıt off from the power button. before using the power button and during the installation the laptop seemed to work really slow. to open norton ınternet security and to enable it took me about 15 minutes.
so after that, i turn it off and when i started it again the real problem appeared.
to complete booting xp it takes about 20 minutes and to open a program (depending on the program) ıt takes from 5 to 20 minutes.
explorer stacks all the time and i cant make a vırus scan.

do you have any suggestions or similar problems to mine.
any advise would be helpful

First of all get rid of that norton crap, it causes more problems than just about any other piece of software.

Get antispyware and anti virus software on your laptop (visit Microsoft), scan with both, then do a scan disk, then disk defrag and that should help.
