PC starts by itself

It will come on in the middle of night and scare me to death. I turn it off the way it should be. But it still comes back on later. I reinstalled windows xp but the problem persists.

512 ram

HOW are you turning it off.

now if it physically turned off and/or unplugged - that's scary.

I don't have a clue what it could be lol. You may have a ghost is the only thing I can think of lmfao

To turn it off, I just do it like any other pc I've ever used.
start button>turn off>turn off. It goes off fine and the monitor light turns yellow. Then out of nowhere. The monitor light turns green and it starts booting up! Sometimes it can be off for hours when it comes on again.
I have even held in the power button to turn it off. It goes off as it should. But still will come back on later all by itself. :evil:

Go into your bios settings and look for the "remote wake-up" settings. Sounds like you have one of them turned on ("wake on lan" is a common one).
