PlEASE HELP!!! laptop wont boot

Hello,

A few months ago my laptop crashed and when i started up again it said

"boot disk failure" well after switching it on and off a couple of times and with just my Ipod cd in the drive it went and loaded windows and worked fine again.

Yesterday the same thing happen it crashed and then the same message came back up i tryed the same as before but didnt work this time. I really dont know what to do. My laptop is Gericom and its windows XP home edition SP1

I tryed getting into the bios to change it to boot from the hard drive but when i access the bios its only 1 screen with 1 option to boot from the CD drive.

PLEEEEEEEEEASE help me any help is great!

"boot disk failure"
would indicate either the primary boot device hasn't got the info to boot the pc with.

-Remove any sort of media from the cd drive and floppy before booting up
-Run a HDD diagnostic program to determine if your HDD is failing. You can obtain one from the website of your HDD manufacturer's..
-run a chkdisk /f and a sfc /scannow


Backup anything you hold dear.
