Pop up problems that I can't fix

For quite some time now I randomly get pop ups in my firefox browser, a lot. For example if I leave my PC for 5 or 10 minutes, I come back to see about 10 pop ups in Firefox. Can someone please tell me where to start fixing this problem? Thanks a lot.

It is likely not Firefox is starting the popups, because unless you have the popup blocker OFF, it will block popups. Chances are good you have some malware ALREADY installed on the machine, and it is opening pages which go to your default browser (FF).
