Possible Hard Drive failure, or problem with the BIOS??

Hello all,
So im getting the error, DELAYED WRITE FAILED for the D:/ .....I wasnt sure what this meant, and proceded to work, until, I tried to access the info on my D Hard drive, and there wasnt anything on it...and what was left on it, cannot be found....
Has this hard drive failed on me? or is it a problem with something in the BIOS?
