ok, so i was testing the inverter (backlight went dead) with a voltmeter in my HP Pavillion dv1000 notebook pc when it simply turned off. Now it will not power up (not on ac adapter or battery) and I am helpless. Could it be a fuse? fried mobo, processor? Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Please explain to me what a power inverter is?

If there is no power to the PC at all, this means one of three things

The power cord is not plugged in

The wall outlet is not live (Check fusebox)

Your power supply is toast

the power inverter is the chip by the lcd screen that changes ac voltage into dc voltage (or vice-versa?) to power the backlight. I was checking to see if power was going to the inverter with a multimeter when the laptop just turned off and will not turn on anymore. There was no smoke so im hoping that i didnt fry the mobo. There dont appear to be any burnt marks on it either. Could it be a fuse in the power supply or do you think the whole thing is ruined? Is it fixable? I can send you digital pictures of the inside if that would help. Your help is GREATLY appreciated.
