Power problem please help!

Hello everybody, I'm new here so excuse me if my ussue is not in the right place.
I have a problem that I've never seen before, I've searched the web but this kind of problem exactly no one talks about.

I have an AMD Athlon 64 +3000 CPU on a Gigabyte Ga-K8NF-9 Board with 512 ram.
The problem is that my computer refuses to power on with the power button but if I wait for a few minutes it just powers on itself. The power button is fine because I have no troble to power the machine off with it.

The wake on lan,ring and alarm were disables in the Bios.
When the machine is on there are no problems.

What make and wattage psu (power supply unit) do you have?

Go here - http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculator.jsp and check how much power your pc requires, let me know your result.

I suspect you may have an over stressed and possibly failing psu.

If you have a multimeter i can suggest a couple of tests that you can try.

Do you think that 400w for that kind of system is enought?

Its a possibility, if you check my system specs you will see that i have a very similar set up and i use a 450watt psu and wouldn't go lower that that.
