Got an odd situation here. Here are the specifics.

When you print from Word or Excell very randomly the printout is shifted 2 inches to the left. As I said, this is random and cannot be reproduced easily. The document looks correct on the screen, setting in page setup are correct and the correct drivers are installed on the win2k print server. The only way to start printing properly after this occurs is to close Word or Excell and then reopen them and it prints fine.

Systems are WinNT 4.0 SP6 with Office Pro 97 installed. Print Server is Win2k. Using latest drivers on print server. Printers are HP Laserjet 2100 (2 of them), HP Laserjet 8000, and HP Laserjet 8500.

We have already built new images for the affected computers and replaced them only to see the problem show up again. This affects the 32 computers in one area but not the other 600 or so computers spread out over the entire business offices. This one building has the problem even though they connect to the same servers on the same domain.

Anyone have ideas?

Do these 32 users all go through the same switch or hub? Is this the isolation point? Could the hardware (switch or hub) be a little flaky or need a firmware upgrade? It seems the only common denominator.

The switch has been checked and it is working fine. Same type and firmware as the others.
