Problem upgrading laptop CPU

I have a Compaq C300 that came with a Socket 478 Celeron M. I bought a socket 478 Centrino to upgrade but the Centrino wont fit in the motherboard. It has extra pin or the mobo socket is missing a hole. I mean all the pins line up with the holes in the socket except for one pin in a corner where there isnt a hole. Its like the Centino is for a socket 479 but Ive nver heard of that. Thanks

According to Wikipedia there is in fact a socket 479. I hope your day isn't ruined by this.

laptops usually aren't that upgradable. You will need to contact the maker to see if in fact, there are faster versions of your laptop.
