Problem with accessing file's

  1. My laptop recently broke down and i was thinking of recovering the Harddrive so i bought a external case for, the problem is that when i was using my laptop i had "my documents" set to private so that now i cant access the file from my desktop because it wont give me access to the folder

    Is there a way that i can move around the protection, such as a recovery program or something
