Problem with Booting my WinXP Home Notebook

Hi guys, I wonder if anybody has encountered this problem.

When I boot/reboot my system, the windows logo and the bar below it shows...after that it shows a blue page with a Windows XP logo on the top right and a text below it saying "Please wait............."

And it takes a very long time before it brings you to the Login page. It usually takes 20 to 30 minutes before the login page shows up.

Does someone know what this issue is? Please help. Thanks in advance!

Does it give you any messages after, "please wait"?

A full chkdsk scan or defragmenting program set to run each boot would create a simliar thing. But you'll see messages about what's going on.

That was what I had in mind. I thought it was doing a chkdsk but it doesnt show anything after the "Please Wait......" line.

It automatically brings you to the login page after a long time.

Thanks for the quick reply Rick. :)
