Problem with keyboard, and ntoskrnl.exe. HELP!

Hello all.

A few days ago I began experiencing troubles with my keyboard. Out of nowhere, I wasn't able to type. After restarting, and trying other keyboards, the problem remained. All of a sudden, when I rebooted the computer the next day, I received an error message along the lines of: <windows root>system32\ntoskrnl.exe missing please re-
install. My first thought was to try and restore everything with my Windows XP disk, so I booted from the CD, but of course since my keyboard won't work, I can't "Press any key to Restore." After that frustration, I rebooted the computer again and now the computer won't even turn on. You can hear it make noises as if it was attempting to turn on, but nothing happens.

Truthfully, I have no idea what to do now.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

Shannon
