Problem with sound card and itunes

I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum...

I'm having problems with ITunes playing music about 2-3x faster than normal...
I tried to do a little research on it, and only thing I can find is that supposedly there is a conflict with Dell sound cards and Itunes that has this exact same effect.

problem is, I'm not using a dell sound card, I dont even have a dell computer at all...
I have a SoundBlaster Live! (model # SB 0100) sound card
I just reinstalled the drivers and that didn't help...

My system specs:
Windows 2000 SP4 w/ all updates
Dual Athlon MP 2400+
1 GB ram
huge HD


anyone have any ideas here ??
