Problems after update

I accepted the latest XP automatic update/upgrade. Since then IE has not been working properly. When you go to a new page; I get a message "Windows cannot find (null)" I press OK, and another new window opens. It's not uncommon to have dozens of pages open to simply move around a site.

If anyone can advise, it would be appreciated.

Give this a try and see if it helps.

Click start/run and type regedit into the run box and press the enter key. When the window appears maximise it. Click file/export and save a copy of your registry to wherever you want.

Close regedit.

Right click on the link above and choose save link as. Save it to wherever you want. Double click the .reg file and click yes when asked if you want to merge it into the registry.

Reboot your system.

I'm still getting the "...null" message along with the multiple window opening stuff. Same problem as before.

Your HJT log is clean as a whistle mate.

Unfortunately, that means I don`t know what`s causing your problem.

The only thing I can suggest, is to try uninstalling IE and re-installing it.
