Hi, i've been trying all day to install Windows XP (home edition) on to my new Seagate 80GB SATA Hard Drive. Im connecting it to a Gigabyte GA-K8NE motherboard with a 3GHZ AMD Sempron. Here's whats been happening....

1. Start PC and Boot to the Windows XP installtion CD
2. Press F6 to addtional Drivers
3. Use a floppy and load Nvidia RAID Utillity and Nvidia Storage Control
4. Windows setup contiunes BUT then say its can't find Mass Storage device, Press F3 to restart...blah blah blah
5. And lots of loud swearing follows!!!

Can some please guide me as the Gigabyte website is actually rubbish!!!

hi

Are you actually doing a RAID or do you just want to install Windows Xp on the new SATA HD? If you are just installing XP then don't press F6 and just install XP. It probably can't find a Mass storage Device because you need at least 2 HD's to implement RAID.

Hello! Welcome to TechSpot!

Is this xp home integrated with sp2?
A_DOG73 is right however you may still need to load the
"Nvidia Storage Control".
Other wise you may want to go to the Nvidia chipset website for the latest
drivers.
So far I've had to load something (f6) for all my sata, even my
ide drive converted to pata needed something.

G'Luck
