Problems with Start Up of Windows XP

Hi,

I am having a couple of start up issues:

1. Sometimes even though programs are listed in msconfig as start up programs, i find that sometimes the programs do not start up.

2. Everytime Windows XP starts up, after the windows welcome tone, whilst things are loading up i get about 7 error beeps. I assumed this meant there were programs trying to start up that had errors, but all programs seem to work. so i dont have a clue why it is happening. And all the right programs seem to be in the msconfig start up tab. So i don't know what to do.

1. If you mean you don't see an icon for the progrm in the system tray, that does not mean it's not running. Not all background programs put icons in the system tray. If my presumption is wrong, my apologies.

2. Control Panel -> Administration Tools -> Event Viewer -> System, and check for error messages in the logs.

If its the icons thats missing try diabling the SSDP service and restart, worked for me
