Problems with unknown Virus

I have a problem with an unknown virus on a friends computer. His anti-virus lapsed and he is operating a pentium 3 with windows NT 4.0. He received an email that said it was from judith with attachment. He opened it and it did a memory dump. It will let you boot to windows and then it will return to a blue sceen that says memory dump. Has anyone out there experienced thsi before and if so can you tell me what you did to resolve the problem. I would deeply appreciate your help.
