Hi All,

My Laptop has two memory cards 256 MB each(512 in total). But When I boot laptop it shows me 448 MB of RAM. So I went aead and boot laptop seperately with each RAM card. After booting Both cards shows 192MB of RAM. Looks like one chip of 4 MB in each card is damaged

Now when I put back both cards it shows me 448 MB of RAM instead of 192*2=384 MB of RAM. How this is possible?

Should I worry and change these RAMS?

Thanks a lot

Laptop memory is directly affected by the amount of RAM you have. Battery life is drained by hard drive use. With more RAM your hard drive will read less often to retrieve programs (as windows will store them in memory for quick retrieval.) Many low end laptops "steal" graphics memory by borrowing from the main memory banks instead of having dedicated graphics RAM.
It pays immensely to maximize laptop RAM. 1GB or more is recommended.
