Ram causing freezing

Just bought pc2100 233mhz 512MB ram, completly compatilble with my motherboard. I installed it last night, in the only empty slot, and I've been using 512 with no problems at all for 2 years.

My computer is a Gateway E-4000

The problem is that since I've installed it last night, my computer has frozen twice, I leave it on 24/7, and normally it never ever freezes.

The type of ram it is is GB Micro.

Any idea on what is causing the freezing?

The PC2100 might be compatible with your system, but if there is another stick of memory installed that is not PC2100, it may cause problems. Check to see if both are PC2100.
