Ram Issue

I have an ASUS p4p800 SE/p4 3.0 ghz HT running 2 gigs (4x512) dual, however when the system boots up it shows it's running at 266mhz for some reason, shouldnt it say 400mhz?

what are the ddr sticks rated for? your board will detect thier speeds (via SPD) and run the memory clock at the slowest module's speed.

zephead is correct. The Asus P4P800 series will run the entire memory bus at the speed of the slowest memory module.

If one of the four sticks isn't DDR-400, it'll run all four at DDR-266 or DDR-333.

It's also possible your BIOS is incorrectly configured as you can also hard-set the memory to 266/333/400 speeds, single or dual channel.

Thanks guys.... I'm pretty sure that the sticks are all the same but I'll have to check. I don't see an option where I can change the frequency of the ram though
